It’s cold inside too, to be honest. Ever careful with the heating – to avoid a big gas bill – we are wearing numerous layers and making use of blankets and throws. We’ve spent too long being cold and one of the things we promised ourselves a very long time ago was that we would not be cold again if we could avoid it. With that in mind, we splashed out on some fleece bedding and it is absolutely fabulous. Not only were we toasty warm in bed, but C liked it enough to drag it under the bed with her. The brushed cotton bedding we bought as a second set was also warm, but didn’t make it under the bed so we’ve ordered another set of the fleece because, to put it bluntly, buggered if we’re going to let C – or any of us – be cold now we can prevent it. The fleece bedding is the first warm thing we have taken under the bed, despite trying numerous different blankets, throws and even a sleeping bag. We have a love/hate relationship with our bed – it is both a safe place and a source of triggers – so anything that makes being in, or indeed under, it a little bit nicer is well worth the money. As our psych says, “that was then, this is now” and if then was cold, now will be warm. And, to be honest, it is easier to add comfort than it is to persuade C that under the bed isn’t the best place to be. The idea that we can have comfort, warmth, nice things, is taking some getting used to but we’re slowly chipping away at the long held belief that we don’t deserve it – and fleece bedding is a pretty good place to start.
