So this week we had two therapy appointments, one on Thursday and one yesterday. They were both good, both useful – except we did it the wrong way round. Thursday’s appointment was fairly general, yesterday was more specific work and altho we packed it away carefully it would have been sensible to do the specific work on the first day and sort out the packing on the second – note to self for next time.
That aside, however, we – us and our psych – learnt a lot. She learnt more than me because, as always, I don’t remember much of the session but we as a whole learnt lots. We were late starting because someone was still using the room but it turned out to be our old IAPT therapist who we haven’t seen in six or so years so we got to say hi which was nice, altho we aren’t wholly convinced she knew who we were. We also sat for the whole appointment which we haven’t done for a long time – on the floor, as is our norm, but we still sat.
And as an added bonus after a tough session we bumped into our old OT and her PaT dog (see here) which was perfect timing and just what we needed – her dog is the best therapist. So we fussed him, told him he’s wonderful and booked a second appointment with our psych for next week.
Later, while out for a stroll, we bumped into our CPN which makes almost a full house of current and former professionals – it was like a low budget, mental health version of This Is Your Life and we were half expecting our old STR worker to appear!
Now we just need to remember to do the tough stuff on the Thursday and the clearing up on the Friday. But no matter, we see our CPN on Monday and she can help us pop a lid back on anything that comes up over the weekend.
