We live in hoods – three identical hooded jumpers, plus an assortment of more traditional, sweatshirt hoodies. Inside or out, our head is covered. But it’s coming towards nice weather – today is lovely and sunny, and warm too. We want to be outside, but we would cook in a hoodie and can’t go out without one. A hood protects our neck, shields us, hides us – we can’t imagine going out without one. And yet, on such a nice day, a hooded jumper would just attract attention when all we want is to be ignored. Not to mention making us uncomfortably hot. We’ve managed to find some thin, hooded, waterfall cardigans which will solve the dilemma until it becomes too hot even for them – we live in rural Yorkshire, so those days are few and far between – but they aren’t here yet. So, for today, we have a choice: go out in our jumper and overheat, go out without a hood and hope we don’t need one, or stay home. The latter isn’t an option – it’s rare we actually want to go out – so it’s time to suck it up, cupcake and do this thing.
