Two months ago, our psych spoke to social services to see what help was available for us and our daughter. The answer, as I predicted, was that there isn’t any. Our daughter was nearly fourteen then – apparently a magical age when she can completely fend for herself and parenting becomes optional *rolls eyes*. We don’t know how much worse things would have had to be before there was help, but it was already pretty dire at that point in time. There is no preventative help.
Our daughter has been attending weekly appointments at CAMHS since before Christmas and two weeks ago after some problems at school it was decided that her psych should speak to the school about her needs and what can be put in place. CAMHS have left numerous messages, but none of the calls have been returned. How much worse do things have to be before there is help? I’m not going into detail but things are already pretty dire. Is there no preventative help?
If things get worse then I wonder how long it will be before someone wants to know why we didn’t ask for help. And I wonder what they’ll say when we tell them we did, but there was nothing.
