As well as our mental health, we also have asthma. On Saturday we went to get a new inhaler out the cupboard only to find there were none, and checking back we realised that the text service from the chemist hadn’t reminded us to collect a repeat prescription. Oopsie. So on Sunday we rang the pharmacy to see if they had our inhalers ready to collect – they did, but without the one we needed most. The one we know we ordered. They couldn’t explain why, or why the text alert hadn’t arrived. And, because it was Sunday, the doctors’ surgery wasn’t open.
Fortunately, the NHS 111 service is pretty awesome with this sort of thing, and after explaining to the nice lady on the phone what had happened she said a new prescription would be ready to collect from the Out of Hours service within two hours, well before the pharmacy closed at 4pm. We had to ask a friend to go for us – a walk in the cold with no inhaler would be a bad idea – but it all worked out in the end.
Hopefully nothing will go wrong with our next repeat because the last few months have been beset by problems – items missing, using my old name – but for now we have what we need and can (literally) breathe again.
